In an attempt to 'even the playing field' in the interest of 'independent writers' reporting original contents in an innovative and interesting way - in public interest - adhering to standards of truth, fairness and transparency; "The Citizen Media Law Project is launching a new program that will provide free legal help to small news sites and bloggers," according to Mediapost's latest publication "New Program Offers Bloggers Free Legal Help."
"Assisting Web publishers with a broad array of legal
issues, ranging from handling complaints about copyright to dealing
with threatened defamation lawsuits to filing incorporation papers," CMLP will provide legal help to stand-alone journalists, bloggers and independent providers to counter the intimidation of the 'Rich and Powerful.'
However, the qualification process for receiving this assistance would involve case-by-case analysis, reports Mediapost, quoting David Ardia, director of the Citizen Media Law Project.
I am sure; this initiative will help individual web-publishers overcome the difficulties in availing legal assistance due lack of financial resources, and will go long way in democratizing publishing world in the interest of the readers.
