How Abhijit Successfully Handled Dirty Office Politics

During my 15 years of career with Corporate India in different organizations, I could never understand the game of politics in the office. Sometimes the frank opinion I had shared with a colleague about my boss was communicated to him in no time.

Today when I look back, I realize that who I used to trust most were the messengers. This breach of trust meant nothing to them as they were perhaps the members of an alliance in the organization. Their belief system was all about survival and prosperity in the organization, not by hardwork and performance but by crushing their self-respect happily.

The following story is based on the successful attempt by one of my colleagues, in one of the organizations I had worked for few years, with regard to his determination to avoid swimming in the murky water of office politics and focus on performance. Well, he did so well that top management gave him an out-of-turn promotion.

Arnab Goswami: View Of A Common Man

These days I watch news channels on my mobile phone. Frankly speaking, it is much more comfortable in a way that I can watch whatever I wish to without disturbing others. Another advantage is the option of headphones.

I also watch a lot of videos on YouTube. That's an amazing source of interesting and informative videos on a wide range of topics. In fact, I do post some of them on my blog also, with comments on the content.

For the last couple of days, I have been watching an unfortunate development unfolding in Mumbai. Yes, I am talking about the arrest of Arnab Goswami, the Editor-In-Chief of Republic TV Network and the Managing Director of the holding company ARG Outliers.

He was arrested by Mumbai Police on 4th of Nov, early morning, from his house, and now in Taloja Jail, a hub of hardened criminals and dreaded terrorists.

Without getting into the details of what had led to his arrest, that you know better than me, let me share my take on the same.

My observations are based on the contents of news articles I have been reading and the videos I have been watching, analyzing the sequence of events, both by them who are in favor of Arnab and those who are against him.

One must understand that the opinion of a common man like me is perception based and is greatly influenced by individual's belief system in terms of analyzing the facts and figures available in public domain.

Who is Arnab: He is one of the most popular TV journalists in India, who fought it out hard from being an employee for 20 years to become the founder and editor-in-chief of India's fastest growing media network. Both his English and Hindi channels are currently topping the popularity chart in terms of viewer-ships.

What is Arnab: He is an outspoken journalist in terms expressing his opinion in a way some term as rhetoric. Even though he is inclined towards the ideology of a particular party, he is not afraid of highlighting controversial issues pertaining to the interest of the common man. Hence, nationalist Common Man like me do like him a lot.

Is his arrest Illegal: It is alleged that he was arrested as an accused in a case that was closed in the year 2019, without taking the mandatory permission from the magistrate for reopening the same. If it is so, nationalist common Man are of the opinion that his arrest is illegal.

The manner of arrest: The way he was picked up from his house by the Mumbai Police, as evident from several videos available across various social media platforms, it clearly indicates that he was and is being treated like a dangerous criminal. Nationalist Common Man know, he is not.

What is next: Arnab's plea for granting him bail was diverted by Mumbai High Court to the Session Court, after consuming valuable 4 days on everything but a decision. In fact, for the first time in the history of Indian Judiciary, a higher court has forwarded the case to a lower court for the verdict. Nationalist Common Man are angry for the same.

Now that the legal team of Arnab has filed petitions in both the Session Court and the Supreme Court of India for relief in terms of granting him bail in this matter, I, a Common Man of India, request the Judicial Authorities to do justice as soon as possible.
