The Importance Of Giving Importance To Others!

The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated. –William James

While talking to their sons over telephone, they would never fail to get all family members on line and enquire about their well-being. That would include, one of their grandchildren who was just 3 years old at that time.

Well, I'm highlighting an astonishing attitude of an elderly couple whom I had observed a few times while talking to their near and dear ones.

During the course of interaction, they, by simple gesture, would check with each other, if, by chance, one of them had left someone unattended over there. Trust me, they could never let it happen, because they we're so methodical.

What they did, is known to all of us: Giving importance to others and acknowledging their existence through appreciation and recognition.

Humans like importance, and constantly look for it through their subconscious mind. When someone recognizes our existence, we feel important and develop a good rapport with him/her based on mutual trust and confidence.

We always take recognition on face value unless there is an underlying tone of recognizable sarcasm. However, when it comes to recognizing others, most of us fail to execute the task because our self defense mechanism puts us on alert.

What theoretically appears to be an easy job, becomes difficult while putting into practice. That's why, implementing it on daily basis is perhaps not everybody's cup of tea.

But it's worth a serious attempt, because such attitude makes one popular - who doesn't like popularity - apart from getting immense happiness from such acts.

So learn to give people their share of recognition, rather make it a habit. And that's possible, only when you develop an attitude of reacting positively to offensive statements also.

How can you expect others to recognize your existence, unless you recognize theirs? You take the first step and notice: how, countless steps start moving towards you!
